“Knowing no one knows where I am is a big relief and comforting, for both my child and myself.”

Making a home for women and children

The Good Samaritan Inn is building a safe and thriving community, where every woman and child lives free from violence.

The Good Samaritan Inn provides short-term accommodation for women and children escaping family violence and homelessness.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers:

  • Offer a communal environment that is safe and nurturing;
  • Restore emotional strength and provide an effective service for each woman and child; and
  • Raise awareness within the community of the impact of family violence and the importance of prevention and early intervention.

In 1996, Sr. Anne Dixon, a member of the Good Samaritan Sisters, had a dream to welcome the homeless into their home. Anne was joined by Sr. Helen Mills and together, with many other sisters and volunteers, the Good Samaritan Inn was established.
