Small things can have a big impact. Volunteers at the Good Samaritan Inn are helping women and children feel safe, respected and empowered, one shift at a time. Providing home-cooked meals, a listening ear, tending to the veggie patch, facilitating groups and programs or assisting with admin and donations, our volunteers are valued team members who have been supporting the Inn and its mission for more than 20 years.
Volunteering helps to build communities, develops people’s skills and provides a sense of belonging and connection. If you would like to join a team of like-minded people and provide real and positive change, ask us about our volunteer program and vacancies today.
Who can volunteer?
Do you have a few spare hours a month? In sharing your time, skills, knowledge and networks you can help us instill hope and provide comfort to women and children at risk.
You do not need specific skills in social work to volunteer, we look for people who have compassion for those experiencing family violence and the time to give to make a difference.
Good Samaritan Inn is open 24/7. Our volunteers are rostered on weekdays, evenings and weekends. Volunteers are required to complete a police check, obtain a working with children’s check and be 21 years or over. We ask that our volunteers commit to a minimum of one shift per month for at least 12 months.
Volunteers will receive the following support from Good Samaritan Inn:
- Clear position descriptions
- Orientation to Good Samaritan Inn
- Access to training and professional development
- Supervision
- Recognition of effort
- Ongoing support from the volunteer coordinator.
